My Personal “Why”

Hello, I’m Kate! And I’m truly honored and humbled you are here.

I believe as everyday moms we have influence in our homes. We are designed to be givers. We have unique abilities to give our time, talents and treasures as nurturers. We step into life-giving roles by fueling the daily grind and managing the schedules. And I believe bigger Kingdom impact is possible by starting with mindfulness.

A mindfulness in recognizing everything you have in your hands is there for a reason. Because He put it there to entrust it to you. But He still owns it.

Personal Stewardship frames Biblical Generosity

I’m a half-homeschool mom to 4. I say half-homeschool because I feel I can’t fully claim the “homeschool mom” title as our three boys attend a Hybrid-Homeschool model. (You full-on homeschool moms amaze me!!! Keep on, mama!)

This is Me

My heart is first and foremost to the Lord and for my family. I’ve been married to the man beyond my wildest dreams and better half, Jonathan, since 2011 and our own personal journey of generosity has evolved over the years. I wish we would have landed where we are today sooner but I truly believe the Lord needed us to go through each experience so we could grow deep in our personal walks with Him, and in our understanding of wisdom.

Never in a million years would I have admitted to loving being an entrepreneur, until I had my own business. The Lord took a childhood love of flowers and 10 years later grew a custom floral design business – called Forte Florals – in the luxury wedding industry serving Philly, the Main Line, and East Coast at large.

I am incredibly grateful to the Lord I was able to contribute to our family’s finances during that season which also allowed Jonathan to pursue his dream of starting his own financial advising business called Evenkiehl. (And yes, we tell people we are unemployable!)

Then I felt the Lord calling me to close Forte Florals at the pinnacle of – what some would call – success. And people looked at me like I was crazy.

I probably would too if I didn’t have this deep calling in my heart.

I closed down my floral business so I was more available to serve my family and to encourage the everyday Christian mom to practice Biblical generosity to make daily + eternal impact.

I get this indescribable joy in my heart when we give money away and talk about it with others.  It’s crazy, right?  Especially since I closed my business – naturally ending an income stream to give away money.

But as I dived into Scripture, books, blogs, articles, podcasts, reference guides – you name it! – it hit me. Before generosity, we need to be reminded about the meaning of stewardshipTHAT GOD OWNS IT ALL. And STILL owns it all. My friend, what you have in your hands is only on loan to you. He still owns it.

So then the question of “how much do I need to give to be generous” should really be asked “how then should I live?” if it’s all His and we are just his agents or stewards.

Listen, here’s what I want you to know: often times we think being generous means giving lots of money, that it’s a novel calling for the super spiritual, or something to do when we’ve maybe “made it”. Which may be partially true.

But generosity is not about an amount. There’s something bigger brewing here. It’s about what’s going on in our hearts.

And this is the conversation we are all about here at genHERus.

So journey with me. Read more to learn. And ask the Lord what may need to change in your life. This is your invitation to leave your legacy. Will you join me?
